It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim
upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality
of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes
and renews a weary spirit.
I'm always astonished by a forest. It makes me realise that
the fantasy of nature is much larger than my own fantasy.
I still have things to learn.
Our lives are like islands in the sea, or like trees in the forest,
which co-mingle their roots in the darkness underground.
