Giovanni Marradi-Garden of Dreams
We all came into this world gifted with innocence,
but gradually, as we became more intelligent,
we lost our innocence.
We were born with silence and as we grew up, we lost
the silence and were filled with words.
We lived in our hearts and as time passed, we moved
into our heads.
Now the reversal of this journey is enlightenment.
It is the journey from the head back to the heart,
from words back to silence; getting back to our
innocence in spite of our intelligence.
Although very simple, this is a great achievement.
Why is everyone here so happy except me?"
"Because they have learned to see goodness and beauty
everywhere," said the Master.
"Why don't I see goodness and beauty everywhere?"
"Because you cannot see outside of you what you fail
to see inside."
Anthony de Mello
The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower,
share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's,
smile at someone and receive a smile in return,
are to me continual spiritual exercises.
We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or noble moments
that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not
Ralph Waldo Emerson
When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts,
the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our
souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.
No one else has access to the world you carry around within
yourself; you are its custodian and entrance. No one else can
see the world the way you see it. No one else can feel your
life the way you feel it. Thus it is impossible to ever compare
two people because each stands on such different ground.
When you compare yourself to others, you are inviting envy into
your consciousness; it can be a dangerous and destructive guest.
The same stream of life that runs through the world, runs
through my veins night and day, and dances in rhythmic
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust
of the earth into numberless blades of grass and breaks
into tulmultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we
have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to
elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death."

Forget the suffering
You caused others.
Forget the suffering
Others caused you.
The waters run and run,
Springs sparkle and are done,
You walk the earth you are forgetting.
Sometimes you hear a distant refrain.
What does it mean, you ask, who is singing?
A childlike sun grows warm.
A grandson and a great-grandson are born.
You are led by the hand once again.
The names of the rivers remain with you.
How endless those rivers seem!
Your fields lie fallow,
The city towers are not as they were.
You stand at the threshold mute.
